Coming This Week
This Sunday is Reformation Sunday. Presbyterians celebrate the tradition that grounds their faith on Reformation Sunday, which marks the occasion in 1517 when Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the church door in Wittenberg, Germany.
The Rev. Kathy Carpenter will be leading the service as she fills in as Linda is on her reduced schedule. The choir will sing “Challenge.”
In Sunday School, we will start a study of the book "How We Learn to Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith" by Mariann Edgar Budde, the bishop and spiritual leader of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, D.C., and the Washington National Cathedral. There are copies of the book available in the church office.
It is Northside's turn to provide support at the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry on Tuesday, October 27, starting at 3:45 p.m. Contact Joe Hunnings for details.
The memorial service for long-time member Emily Bender will be on Saturday, October 31, at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Emily was an avid gardner who loved to raise and arrange flowers, providing many arrangements for a variety of church functions. To that end, members are invited to come to the church on Friday, October 30, at 1:00 p.m. to help arrange flowers for Emily Bender’s memorial service.

Stewardship Season
|
|
During this Stewardship season, think about the gifts that God has given you and how you can cheerfully give back to God. For some time, despite our small membership, Northside's members and friends have continued to faithfully work to further God’s kingdom and serve His people. We have generously given back a portion of what God has given us. We are grateful for your past gifts and we ask that you please prayerfully consider your pledge for the upcoming year.
The pledge letter has been mailed to those who didn't pick it up from their church mailbox. Please complete and mail, or drop off the Pledge form at the church by November 1, or copy the form and send it as an email attachment to NPC Associate Treasurer, Emily Davis (emily@epdavis.net). Extra copies of the form are in the Narthex.

Updated Office Hours
With Linda's move to 3/4 time, there are some changes in office hours and availability. Linda will be in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, typically from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. She will be off on Thursday and Friday. She will be available for an emergency, such as a serious illness, hospitalization, family crisis, or death. The first contact when Linda isn't available is the Officer on Call, who is listed in the eUpdate each week, the Sunday bulletin, on the church website on the "For Us" page, and on the church answering machine message.
Bruce, our Administrative Assistant, is in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, typically from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
These hours are subject to change for both due to meetings and other activities.
