Coming Sunday and Beyond

This Sunday is the Fourth Sunday of Advent. Linda's message is “Being Dad (Love).” The choir will perform "Mary, Did You Know?" to enhance the worship service. Kay and Joe Hunnings will light the fourth Advent candle. We will also collect the Christmas Joy offering.

The Christmas Eve candlelight service will be on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 7:30 p.m. The service on Sunday, Dec. 28, will be a service of carols and spiritual songs.

Bruce will not be in the office next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 23 and 24. The church office will be closed from Christmas Day, Dec. 25, until Jan. 2.

Christmas Joy

After the choir performed its beautiful cantata for the worship service, everyone enjoyed the Joy Gift lunch. The main dish was ham, with a variety of side dishes brought by members and friends. As always, the dessert table was loaded with goodies. After the lunch, there was an interactive program that involved all in telling the Christmas story.

Christmas Joy Offering

The Mission Committee is sharing this information about our upcoming Christmas Joy Gift Offering, which we will receive over the next two weeks. The committee encourages everyone to consider a gift this year! You can find several stories about how the Joy Gift Offering has been helpful to Jinho Kim, a Korean missionary:  Finding his voice to comfort the voiceless | Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and Soren Briggs, who at 17 years old, is the youngest ruling elder at First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque New Mexico: Connecting church with everyday life | Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Scholarship Award

The National Council on Family Relations awarded to Aran Garnett-Deakin the Cindy Winter Scholarship Award, which honors a student or new professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership/service in the discipline of Family Science. Congratulations, Aran!

Annual Reports

It's coming up on that time again -- annual reports are due to be presented at the congregational meeting in January. Chairs of each committee and those in leadership positions should begin compiling your notes and data so you can have your full written report to Bruce by Dec. 30. Format isn't important because the content will be dropped into a template. Please email your report to secretary.northside@gmail.com

Monday Night Supper

The meal on Monday was lasagna, cucumbers and tomatoes or green beans, fruit and cookies and chicken nuggets when the lasagna ran out. We served 101 meals. Thank you to The whole Green family (Cory, Lisa, Henry, Izzy, and Ella), Ann Marie and Maria, Barbara, George and Marge, Susan, Marshall, Alex, Georgia, Linda, Heidi and Bruce for volunteering.

We will not give meals on Dec. 22 and 29 due to the holidays and travel. We will resume on Jan. 5.

Volunteers to help prepare and pack meals are always welcome and needed.
