Upcoming Events

Linda is on study leave from May 12 to May 18. Rev. Wes Jamison, the Ukirk campus minister, will preach in her absence.  The choir will sing O Love How Deep to enhance the worship service.

The Adult Forum class will welcome Wes Jamison to speak to us about his leadership role in UKirk and what the group is up to now.

Next Sunday, May 25, the Adult Forum class will host a guest speaker, Brooke Gill, Senior Program Manager with the Alzheimer’s Association’s Central and Western Virginia Chapter, who will speak about companionship best practices for people living with progressive memory loss.

Please call the Officer on Call or the church office is there is a need in the congregation while Linda is not available. Bruce will be out of the office next week while he and Heidi travel to Florida for a grandson (and family) visit.

Celebrate!

We will have cake and punch during fellowship time to celebrate Olivia Nartley's graduation from Virginia Tech. She will receive a master's degree in Accounting & Information Systems on May 15. She will be going to work for Deloitte in Richmond as an Audit Associate. We will have a service of Godspeed when she departs from us later this summer.

Upcoming Nuptials

Kaitlyn Heinze and Jordan (Jojo) Smothers will be married May 17, 2025, in Cornelius, NC. If you wish to send a card, their address is 11341 Foxhaven Dr., Charlotte, NC 28277. We pray that God will bless their marriage with joy.

Officer on Call

The officer on call for the week of May 11 - 17 is Forest Arnold. He can be reached at 443-757-2223. The officer on call for the week of May 18 - 24 is Marshall Chaney. He can be reached at 540-320-8083.

Special Music

The choir starts its summer break on June 1. This is now the time to consider offering special music over the summer months. You don't have to do a solo - find a friend or family member to join you! It could be vocal or instrumental, using recorded or live accompaniment (Pat or Marya might be available to play). There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex waiting to have dates filled in.

Lemonade on the Lawn

With June comes a shift from coffee and donuts in the sanctuary to lemonade outside on the lawn. This requires setting out a table, putting out the lemonade and cups, and cleaning up. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex for those who want to help with this fellowship event.

Memory Garden

There will be a quiet ceremony on May 14 at 3:30 p.m. for Mary Rhodes to place some of Revathi's ashes in the garden.

Monday Night Supper

On Monday, the menu was Arby’s roast beef sandwiches, potato salad, green beans, fruit, and cookies. We gave out 100 meals. Helpers this week were: Marjorie and George, Barbara, Ann Marie and Maria, and Heidi and Bruce.

Service Opportunities

Every Sunday is open to serve Fellowship after worship. The sign-up sheet and instructions are on the Fellowship table. You can also contact secretary.northside@gmail.com to sign up.

There is a need for people to read the scripture each Sunday. Please contact secretary.northside@gmail.com to sign up.
